Despite the high total Nunwick fought all the way through their 20 overs with M Robson retiring on 30
Carlisle Green 120-9 (J.Spencer 29no, J.Oultram 23, A.Mansergh 2-19) v Wigton 139-5 (A.Mansergh 35 ret, N.Watt 33 ret, N.Hill 14. C.Mcleod 3-12) Wigton batted first and were contained for the first 6 overs, but following a little wayward bowling and some aggressive stroke play managed to reach the imposing total of 139 for 5. Some good Wigton bowling maintained the pressure and a steady trickle of wickets saw Carlisle fall 20 runs short closing on 120-9

Mike Slack held the batting together making 31 before Dom Wall (20) and Dan Tickner (15) pushed the score on in the final overs
Nunwick Gold  78-7 (Zak sinkinson 33 ret) v Lanercost  75-9 (J Robley 31 ret Sara Worsick 3-6 including a hattrick) This was a very close game with Nunwick setting what seemed to be a low target. The home side knew they would have to bowl well to have any chance of winning. Lanercost seemed to be cruising to victory until Nunwick introduced Sara Worsick to the attack. She started with a maiden then in her second over she took a Hat Trick to leave the Lanercost batting line up in tatters! Her next over was also a maiden then she took the winning catch to round off an excellent performance - woman of the match!!

Alex Grainger (30ret) and Jack Mason (28no) then set about gradually building Cockermouths innings. Jack Edmondson hit a quick fire 24 which included four 4's and a six as Cockermouth closed on 94-3. Workington openers Jake Daniel and Liam Ryan both retired with unbeaten 30's and it was left to captain Jonny Irving (26no) to see his side home with over three overs to spare
Egremont 48-8 (Mark Jackson 25no, S Jacobson 2-1, A Armstrong 2-4) v Cleator 165-0 (J Rodgers 30ret, S Jacobson 31ret, A Hodgson 30ret, S Kiggins 30ret)

Cleator 93-7 (R.Leeson 27, A.Armstrong 19) v Cockermouth Gold 103-5 (Edmonson 30ret, Mason 16)
Cockermouth Green 62ao (D McGreavy 19, Matthew Grainger 4-23, Kevin Griffiths 3-2, Nathan Graham 2-4) v Workington Blue 119-3 (Josh Burns 30ret, Ryan Clubley 30ret, Matthew Lowden 18, J Hadfield 1-9, A Holliday 1-10) An opening partnership of 60 between Matthew Lowden (18) and Josh Burns (30 retired) laid the foundations for a healthy total for the visitors, Ryan Clubley also retiring on 30. Hadfield and Holliday picked up deserved wickets for a spirited Cockermouth team for whom Jonny Norman (4 overs for 11) also bowled a very tidy opening spell. McGreavy hit a good looking 19 in Cockermouth Greens reply but, despite a good scoring rate, a steady flow of wickets saw the home side bowled out in 11 overs for 62. Matthew Grainger (4 for 23) was the main wicket taker well supported by Kevin Griffiths (3 wickets for 2) and Nathan Graham (2 wickets for 4)
Keswick 62-1 v Egremont 61ao Keswick captain James Benson led from the front with an unbeaten 30. The left hander showed an impressive array of stroke play. He was ably assisted by his vice captain Harry Garner who was 16 not out.  Ollie Burn bowled well for Egremont with a return of 1/8 from his four overs. Egremonts top scorer was A Mellen with 33 not out. He was the only Egremont player in double figures and showed a lot of determination against a combined attack of medium pace and spin. After three successive league games rained off without a ball being bowled, Keswick were simply pleased to get out into the middle and play a game. The win from this first outing was a bonus and a reward-all the hard work that has been put in during nets sessions over the last few weeks and the winter indoors
Workington 106-5 (Jake Daniel 30ret, Andrew Ireland 26, Jack Whinn 19) v Whitehaven 74ao (C Conner 21 R Fisher 19, Alex McGeen 3-8, Jack Cooper 3-14, Jack Burgess 2-9)

Points - Cockermouth 10, Keswick 10, Workington 10, Workington Blue 10, Whitehaven 2, Cockermouth Green 2, Egremont 1, Cleator 3

Friday 29th May - League Week 4

Cockermouth Gold 155-4 (Alex Grainger 33ret, Jack Mason 34ret, Ryan Todhunter 26, Angus Carruthers 23,  S Sharp 2-13) v Keswick 75-8 (J Benson 22, A Grainger 1-5, M Hodgson 1-15, M Henson 2-16) An understrength Keswick side struggled to contain a impressive batting performance from Cockermouth. They were also faced with a rotation of bowlers, 8 were used in total, so that no batsmen apart from J Benson were ever comfortable.
Egremont 90-8 (Mark Jackson 17, Ollie Burn 13, Reece O'Connor 12, R Milligan 2-6, D McGreavy 2-10) v Cockermouth Green 113-2 (J Clark 33, J Norman 30, Matthew Lancaster 2-25)
Whitehaven 120-3 (R Fisher 31ret, C Conner 20, J Murphy 21) v Workington Blue 78ao (J Williamson 30, O Wilcock 12, J Lofthouse 4-24, T sarrington 3-2) Conner and Fisher got the home side of to a strong start reaching 50 in 7 overs and together with Murphy (21) played some fine strokes. Spinners Nathan Graham, Sean Simpson and Will Fennel applied the brakes to some degree but Whitehaven ended on a total of 120 for 3. Conner and Whitelock bowled a fine opening spell limiting Workington to 5 from 4 overs before Jack Williamson hit several boundaries, reaching 30 retired. A superb spell of spin bowling from Sarrington (3 wickets for 2) and 4 wickets from Lofthouse closed the game out for Whitehaven.
Workington 102-2 (J Daniel 30, A Ireland 20no, L Ryan 16, A McGeen 15no) v Cleator 98-6 (S Jacobson 29, J Rodgers 26, J Irving 2-9, R Clubley 2-22) A close game between two strong teams looked to be edging towards Cleator as Workington, despite making a solid start, fell slightly behind the required run rate and needed 49 from 7 overs. Andrew Ireland and Alex McGeen turned the game in Workingtons favour with some powerful hitting - each hitting a six in their brief innings

Points - Cockermouth Gold 10, Cockermouth Green 10, Whitehaven 10, Workington 10, Keswick 3, Workington Blue 3, Cleator 2, Egremont 2

Friday 5th June - County Cup Round 2 or Friendlies for those not in Round 2

Whitehaven 87-7 (Cameron Connor 31 ret) v Cleator 200-3 (J Rogers 33, A hodgson 33, S Jakobson 33 S Kiggins 33 R Leeson 30)
Cockermouth Green 75ao (S Paton 26) v Cockermouth Gold 76-1 (R Tinnion 24no, J Edmondson 27no) A strong all round performance from the Gold team ensured this derby match was settled in their favour
Keswick 79-8 (M Clark 28no, A McGeen 3-17, N Graham 2-20) v Workington 80-3 (J Daniel 33ret, A Shilito 25no, B Sharpe 2-12)
Workington Blue 75-7 (R Clubley 13, J Burgess 13no, Lancaster 2-14) v Egremont 78-3 (O Burn 30ret, A Mellen 32ret, J Burgess 2-12) Workington finished around 15 runs too short of what would have been a competitive target as Egremont bowlers maintained a good line and length throughout. Burn and Mellen set the foundations for Egremonts reply despite, again, good bowling from Workington. Egremont won with 8 balls to spare, hence a total of around 90 would have set up a real nailbiter.

Matthew Hodgson did the damage for Cockermouth taking four of the top six for just 5 runs. Cockermouth comfortably knocked off the runs with 7 overs to spare, Ed Gate remaining unbeaten on 27
Whitehaven v Egremont No Play - Rain
Workington 97-2 (Jake Dainel 33ret, Matthew Lowden 20, Andrew Ireland 18no) v Cockermouth Green 96ao (Michael Smith 29, Lewis Hull 4-14, Jack Whinn 2-11, Liam Ryan 2-11)  Four wickets for Lewis Hull, an Under 12 player, playing his first Under 15 game. Egremont 103-6 (Oliie Burn 32 ret, Haydn Birkett 19, Jack Edmundson 1-7) v Cockermouth Gold 99ao (Jack Edmundson 31 ret, Mark Jackson 4-1, Ade Mellen 3-14) Cockermouth batted first and although they were missing a number of regulars, soon rattled up some quick runs. After 10 overs they were 76-2, with Jack Edmundson scoring a very quick 31, which included six 4's and a 6. The innings was then turned on its head, firstly by Ade Mellen (3-14 from his four overs) and then by Mark Jackson who took 4 wickets for one run in 1.3 overs. Egremont responded positively with Ollie Burn (32 ret) and Haydn Birkett (19) putting on 44 for the first wicket in 7 overs. However wickets fell regularly as the run chase got tense and a couple of late run outs saw Egremont needing two of the last over bowled by Ward. A wicket of the first ball and a run out of the third ball left the result in the balance before a scrambled bye saw Egremont home with 2 balls to spare.

Cockermouth Gold v Cleator Abandoned Rain (Score tbc)
Egremont v Workington Blue 20-0 (J Williamson 13no) Abandoned - Rain Despite the determination of both teams, the game finally succombed to the weather. After starting in light drizzle, only 4 overs were possible before the rain got too heavy. Workington's opening pair of Williamson and Hazzard had made a good start (20-0) against Egremonts opening bowlers, Burn and Sempill.
Whitehaven v Cockermouth Green 27-0 Abandoned, Rain
Workington v Keswick 44-1 (Adam Hickey 29, Laura Leyland 11no) Abandoned - Rain The match started with light rain falling and Keswick made a solid start reaching 44 in 11 overs with Adam Hickey being caught by Matthew Lowden off the bowling of Jack Whinn one run short of his retirement. His opening partner Laura Leyland had provided good support. However, conditions by now had significantly deteriorated and with the rain getting heavier both team managers had no option but to abandon the game.

Friday 7th August - League Week 10

Cockermouth Green v Workington Blue Conceded by Workington Blue
Egremont 84-4 (A Mellen 32 retired) v Whitehaven 87-2 (Cameron Connor 30 ret Tom Sarrington 20no)Whitehaven reached the Egremont with relative ease after 13.1 overs.
Keswick v Cleator Conceded by Cleator
Workington 83-6 (J Irving 30ret) v Cockermouth Gold 86-2 (A Grainger 30ret, M Henson 30ret) Contributions by Jonny Irving (30ret) and Matthew Lowden saw the home side post 83-6 in their 20 overs although 3 run outs meant that the innings lost momentum at vital times - these run outs would later prove more costly though. Cockermouth quickly chased down the total with Alex Grainger and Matty Henson both retiring and Henson and Jack Edmondson both hitting sixes out of the club. However, with the league points between the clubs absolutely level, Cockermouth needed to win by atleast three runs to take the league courtesy of countback on games between the clubs. Workington needed one more wicket to secure an extra bonus point and so win the league themselves. With the home fielders back on the boundary a succession of dot balls followed as Workington sought the extra wicket and Cockermouth the opportunity to hit four or six. With three balls remaining Sam Scully hit a ball through mid wicket and the batsmen scurried three. That meant that the teams finished level on points, bonus points and runs but Cockermouth, having lost one wicket fewer over the 2 games between the clubs, claimed a tightly fought league. The game was played in excellent spirit, particularly given the tension of the final overs.

Points - Cockermouth Gold 10, Cockermouth Green 10, Keswick 10, Whitehaven 10, Workington 2, Egremont 2
