1. Carlisle Green 62-8 v Cockermouth 66-7 A great game of u11 cricket watched by a generous crowd at a bitter Carlisle CC. Some good early bowling from Davidson and Hull restricted cockermouth to 7-4, but they recovered and made a respectable total. The Cockermouth bowling was to an excellent standard, Josh Morley retired for Carlisle with 30. Overall a good game of competitive junior cricket between two decent teams. 2. Penrith Green 40 all out (J Benson 3-0-4-2, C Edwards 1-0-4-2) v Whitehaven 75ao (Mathew Lowes 2-0-12-5, Daniel Moreland 2-0-9-2) 3. Lanercost 51-3 v Great Corby 49-7
4. Appleby 124-4 (Josh Brabbins 30ret, Bobby Atkinson 24, Josh Bellas 13no, A. Bland 3-0-5-0, G.Carr 3-1-10-1) v Threlkeld 25ao Appleby dominated this game but a young Threlked side gave their all and will be a force as their side gain experience. Outstanding bowling from Bland & Carr in the face of an onslaught from a strong Appleby batting side. Well done. 5. Egremont v Caldbeck Conceded to Egremont 6. Wigton 139-2 (Dean Thomlinson 31 ret,John Kemp 30 ret,James Wilkinson 27 n.o.) v Nunwick 78-6 (James Wilkinson 2 for 9, W Holliday and H Schofield both 10) Both teams were affected by players being on holiday, made worse for Nunwick who had two players go down with injuries earlier in the day. That said both teams gave their all and were well supported by a good number of parents. 7. Carlisle Blue v Cleator Conceded to Cleator 8. Seascale v Keswick No Play - Rain Conceded to Keswick

Semi Finals (To be played on
Sunday 23rd
August
or Monday 24th
August)
Cockermouth 24-2 (C.Doust 2-0-15-2) v Lanercost 21-6 (H.Thompson 2-2-0-1, L.Hill 2-2-0-1, M.Stables 2-0-2-2) Wigton 23ao (Dean Thomlinson 9, C Robson 3 for 5, M Saxton, A West both 2 for 2) v Keswick 24-1 Keswick knocked off the runs in the 4th over with consummate ease. Wigton never recovered from Charlie Robson's first over...3 wickets incl 2 with his first two balls. Some excellent bowling, fielding, and catching by Keswick although the very young Wigton side hung on until the 17th over before the last man was out - a considerable feat having been 7 for 5 and the older recognised bats back in the pavilion. Whilst this result was a very fair reflection on the gap between the two sides ,Wigton had enjoyed a great end to their season with only one player in their team having played in the league the previous year. 4 yr 4's and a yr 3 should be a good base for the future.
Final
(Played at Workington, Sunday 6th September)
Cockermouth 90-4 (David Haughton 30, Daniel Fisher 18) v Keswick 90-7 (Charlie Robson 23, Megan Saxton 16, Alfie West 24)
 Cockermouth & Keswick U11
Another week of poor weather saw all but one of the planned Junior League Finals cancelled as pitches were too waterlogged to allow play to take place. However, the one game that did take place must rank as one of the best ever Junior finals. Cockermouth and Keswick under 11's have both enjoyed excellent seasons, along with Carlisle Green, finishing top of their respective regional leagues and so making the Under 11 League play-offs which were curtailed by rain the previous weekend and will hopefully be finished this coming weekend. However, on Sunday, the two Allerdale based teams met each other in the Under 11 League Cup final, staged at Workington, and provided the many spectators with a game blessed with some excellent individual and team performances and above all a thrilling finale. Keswick won the toss and elected to bat. Progress in the early overs was steady thanks to some accuate bowling from the Cockermouth bowlers, Tom Norman conceding just five runs in his three over spell. Keswick opening bat Charlie Robson built a solid innings of 23 as the innings gathered some pace. Runs remained hard to come by however and some excellent fielding saw several batsmen run out by direct hits including two run outs by Daniel Fisher. Megan Saxton (16) and Alfie West (24) provided some impetus, West hitting one large six and several fours in his quickfire innings, as Keswick reached a very respectable 90 for 7 in their 20 overs. Cockermouths innings then followed a very similar pattern to that of Keswick as tight bowling from Megan Saxton, Charlie Robson and Sam Barrett saw only 15 runs conceded from their 9 overs. Daniel Fisher anchored the Cockermouth innings with 18 runs to add to his run-outs but, with just five overs to go and more than 40 runs required, the task looked too much. However, enter man of the match David Houghton !! He hit 30 runs in double quick time to set up a thrilling finish and leave the Sandair team needing eleven of the final over. A six helped matters but, with one ball to go, two runs were still required to level the scores. The batsmen duly scampered these two runs to leave Cockermouth on 90 for 4 - a tie on runs scored, but victory to Cockermouth by virtue of having lost fewer wickets. Both sets of players received a good ovation from the appreciative spectators and should reflect with pleasure in having taken part in such an outstanding final - another advert for the strength of Junior Cricket in our County.

But Wilson and Cape as the fourth pair began a recovery before Daniel Robson and J Steele as the final pair added an impressive 43 in their four overs. Great Corby struggled early on against some tight bowling and well set fields. But were only 4 behind the visitors score at the 11 over mark before J Steele took three wickets in 4 balls in a decisive over. Despite Astle and Israel adding 18 in the final partnership the home side finished over 50 adrift. Workington scored only 5 more off the bat, but extras and wickets made the difference. In a very sporting gesture a Workington fielder corrected an umpire who had signalled a four to signal a six to the batting team 8. Penrith broke the wicket and claimed a run out. After a lengthy debate the appeal was not allowed and Tom Baines played out the over,to see Appleby home. 3. Workington Blue 264 (Jack Burgess 12, Jack Williamson 25, Harry Garner 4-21, A Hickey 3-23) v Keswick 339 (A Hickey 37, Ben Sharpe 18, Harry Garner 23, S Ligertwood 17, Sean Simpson 2-12, Nathan Graham 2-36) An opening partnership of 49 between Sharpe and Hickey gave Keswick a lightening start and with solid batting throughout they proceeded to set a useful total. Harry Garner rounded off a solid performance with bat and ball by taking four wickets in Workington Blues' reply in which Jack Williamson and Jack Burgess starred with the bat. Mention also to under 11 Keswick player Charlie Robson who bowled three excellent overs taking 2 for 11. Very enjoyable game played in an excellent spirit between the two teams. 4. Cleator 323 v Penrith Gold 323 Penrith Gold win as a result of losing fewer wickets 5. Whitehaven 328 (Cameron Connor 25, Jack Watson 25, Tom Sarrington 21, Matthew Sempill 4-17) v Egremont 283 (Ade Mellen 34, Matthew Lancaster 16, Matthew Sempill 11, J Lofthouse 3-10) A young Egremont team batted first and were restricted bt some tight bowling, particularly by Jamie Lofthouse (3-10). Ade mellen provided the main threat with 34 runs from 16 balls, as Egremont made 283. Whitehaven got off to a flying start with 57 runs coming off the first 6 overs, major contributions coming from Cameron Connor and Jack Watson, both with 25. Their progress was halted dramatically with a spell of 4-17 from 11yr old Matthew Sempill, before later batsmen Tom Sarrington and Rob Fisher provided some big shots to see Whitehaven safely home 6. Penrith Green 326 (G Burne 35, R Martin 22, R Jackson 19, A Craig 19) v Carlisle Blue 245 7. Wigton 264 v Appleby 320 (James Nicholson 23) Good spell of death bowling by M Winder for Appleby, 5 for 24 incl 4 wkts in one over 8. Cockermouth Green 263 v Nunwick 345

Cockermouth Gold 219 (Alex Grainger 17, Ed Gate 13, Angus Carruthers 12, Ryan Clubley 2-9, Andrew Shilito 1-3, Matthew Lowden 1-3) v Workington 269 (Jonny Irving 14, Andrew Ireland 12, Jack Whinn 12) Workingtons bowlers restricted Cockermouth to 219, each taking a wicket and bowling very tightly - only one extra conceded in total. After 8 overs, with Workington on 212 after losing 4 wickets, the game was still in the balance. Only one more wicket was lost as the final three pairs made steady progress, Workington closing on 269. Keswick 231 v Penrith Gold 217 Keswick lost seven wickets. G Atkinson and S Atkinson claimed three each for Penrith Gold. Sam Sharp and Matty Clark did not lose their wickets in the final four overs and this proved crucial in the context of the match. Captain james Benson, who has batted resolutely throughout the entire season, was the only other Keswick batsman not to lose his wicket. Penrith lost no fewer than 13 wickets and county under 13 bowler Matty Clark was the hero of the hour for the home team, taking six of them, four in his last over when he was twice on the hatrick! Keswick went through to the semi-finals after this low scoring but incredibly exciting tie. At the break Keswick had little or no chance but tight bowling and a gradual build-up of pressure brought about an unexpected result which sees this Keswick team - which has been building in confidence all season - through to the semi-final. Laura Leyland had an excellent game for Keswick behind the stumps. Whitehaven 290 (James Lofthouse 25) v Penrith Green 324 (R Martin 48no, A Craig 22no) Appleby 345 (C.Kirkpatrick 35no, J.Crawford 23no, W. Thompson 3-0-13-1) v Nunwick 330 (Z.Sinkinson 26no W.Thompson 34no, R.Collin 23no) A superb game of cricket. Appleby's imposing 345 looked safe mid way but some late order hitting took Nunwick close. Chris Kirkpatricks dismissal of Raglan in the 17th over pegged Nunwick back when they looked to be in with a good chance. Well done to both teams.
Semi
Finals (To be

August)
Workington v Keswick (Scheduled 21st August - Keswick unable to raise team) Penrith Green 265 v Appleby 269 (Played 17th August)
Final
(Saturday 12th September, Penrith)
Appleby 242 (James Nicholson 18, Jordan Crawford 17, Matthew Lowden 3-2-2-3 Andrew Ireland 3-1-5-2) v Workington 274 (Jonny Irving 24, Andrew Ireland 20, Matthew Lowden 15, Liam Dent 3-0-9-2 James Nicholson 3-0-13-2) Batting first in this pairs-format final, Appleby got off to a solid start with James Nicholson (18 runs) and Sam Hutt putting on 24. However, from that point, runs became much harder to come by with Jordan Crawford (17) and Bradley Crowsdale (10) the only two batsmen to reach double figures as Workington took a total of 8 wickets. Stand out bowlers were eventual man of the match Matthew Lowden who took 3 wickets for just 2 runs and Andrew Ireland (2 for 5)
In reply Workington had reached 235 after 8 overs with Lowden (15) and Ireland (20) featuring with the bat. Liam Dent (2 for 9) then struck with 2 wickets in an over as Workington were pegged back. Final pair Jonny Irving and Ryan Clubley went to the crease with the game in the balance on 241 but four 4's from Irving (24) made the game safe.
