Wigton 43-1 v Workington Blue 42-8 A very enjoyable game of cricket on a surprisingly nice evening. A young Workington Blue team batted first but despite losing early wickets stuck to the task right down the order.Opener Jack Hillard compiled a very good 15.The Wigton bowlers gave little away with Jessica Scott and Jake Bell getting their first wickets in a competitive game. Wigton passed the total for the loss of one wicket,Lewis Little was "retired" on 23, James Holyoak hit a swift 17 n.o.
Carlisle Green v Whitehaven Conceded by Whitehaven

Round 2 (Ties to be completed on Monday 16th August, or in event of rain-off, before Sunday 22nd August)

Cockermouth 54-1 (Marcus Stables 25 n.o. Alfie Poole 16 n.o.) v Nunwick 53-4 (S. Aynesley 19 n.o. Elliott Irwin 4-0-9-2)
Keswick v Cleator Conceded by Cleator
Workington 73-6 (B Scott - 22 L Myrehouse - 13 not out J Park-Johnson - 2 for 6 C Park-Johnson - 2 for 10) v Penrith Gold 132 all out (7 wickets & 3 retired) (G Cameron - 31 ret J Park-Johnson - 31 ret L Trevaskis - 31 ret L Myrehouse - 2 for 17) Penrith travelled to Workington on what started as a bright, mild night and ended as a cool, murky one.  Winning the toss, Penrith batted and the top order scored well - with each retiring on 31.  A mid-to late order collapse coupled with some good bowling kept the score to 132 when Penrith were bowled out with one ball to go.  In reply, Workington got off to the worst possible start with the opener bowled first ball.  However some middle order repair work especially by B Scott & L Myrehouse saw Workington get to respectability - although by the end it was difficult to see anything!
Wigton 75-9 (James Holyoak 28 Elliott Hill 3 overs 3 wickets for 11 runs (all bowled)) v Carlisle Green 78-1 (James Dawson 27 not out Adam Harrison 26 not out) Both teams were missing their captains due to holidays, but the players brought in for both sides competed well. Batting first ,Wigton's Lewis Little and James Holioak put on a good partnership for the second wicket, but once Little was out to a good catch by William Smith, James lacked another big scorer to push the Wigton total higher. Carlisle started steadily and Hill was out to a good catch by James Wilkenson off Holyoak's last over. Adam Harrison came to the crease and struggled to get off the mark. Fortunately James Dawson was batting well, and good running between the wickets helped to keep the score ticking  over. Having taken 14 balls to score 2 runs Harrison then found the gaps to score 24 runs of his next 9 deliveries to win the match for Carlisle. A most enjoyable game played in an excellent spirit.

Cleator 229 (S Lee - 14 A Hart - 4 wickets) v Penrith Gold 290 (G Hall - 16 G Atkinson - 23) Cleator batted first and set of steadily.  Wickets fell regularly meaning all the positive scoring was dampened by the loss of 5 runs for each wickets.  A final score of 229 was always going to be hard to defend.  13 year old Hart bowled wel for Penrith taking 4 wickets.  In reply Penrith started slowly with the first pair batting recklessly and losing three wickets - ending even for their time at the crease.  The immings then built from there and Penrith ran out comfortable winners.
